VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
Do you have a skill or are you able to provide financial assistance to enable a poverty stricken teenager the opportunity to further his education? We are looking for anyone who has any kind of skill. If you don't already have one, go out and learn one. We are looking to set up some workshops for the women or the men of San Pablo. The possibilities for work here are limited only by your skills and dedication.
Details for VolunteersWe do not provide any remuneration for volunteers. This project is financed privately and our mission is to give something back to the world in exchange for all the blessings we have received living in a western society.
Living quarters - there are dozens of adequate hotels in San Pedro, many lakeside and likewise dozens of restaurants run by foreigners. Hotels range from A$3- A$20 per night. Weekly costs for food and accommodation would be around A$100 per person if you ate out in restaurants. You could live very, very cheaply if you lived in a hotel with a kitchen and cooked your own food (A$40 per week).
It is not necessary to be able to speak Spanish although it would be an advantage to perhaps study some basic Spanish before coming or perhaps doing 2 weeks of private lessons when first arriving (A$55 for one on one classes 20 hours a week see www.casarosario.com). The locals do not speak any English but translators may be available.
Flights fly into Guatemala City and then a 3 hour shuttle bus will bring you directly to San Pedro or to Panajachel where a 30 minute boat ride will magically amaze your senses before arriving at San Pedro.
If you are interested in anything new age or meditation look up San Marcos Solola which is a ten minute boat ride from San Pedro and which hosts lots of healing centres which are becoming famous throughout the world. These are mostly run by foreigners and at a fraction of the cost charged elsewhere around the globe.
